North Tyneside Youth Theatre collaborated with Left Luggage Theatre on alveus: veris,
the research and development phase of a full-scale project that will culminate in a professional

Over four weekends the youth theatre experimented with the characters and tales that
resonate through the area's rich heritage. The young people jumped straight in at the deep end
to create site-specific theatre in this unusual place and shared and learnt new skills in
theatre making. Left Luggage Theatre were thrilled by their enthusiastic commitment and
creativity that has laid a solid foundation for the rest of the project.
North Tyneside Youth Theatre create relevant, dynamic, visible theatre in and around
the region. Young people aged between 8 and 21 years are invited to participate and through
accessing youth theatre activity can build skills to better equip them in the art of living
confident and creative lives.

As part of this research and development period Left Luggage Theatre also ran workshops
with older people in Wallsend to explore their memories of the place and the stories that
are important to them.
